Facts:

Sometimes a baby tooth must be removed.

The natural biologic tendency is for the back teeth to drift forward… not the other way around!

Maintaining the space for the permanent tooth underneath is essential.

A Space maintainer takes the place of the baby tooth and hold the surrounding teeth inplace.

It may take 1-2 years before the permanent tooth actually erupts into the space.

Summary:

A Space Maintainer can prevent:

  • More complicated orthodontics later on

  • Tooth impactions

  • Complicated dental procedures on the compromised baby tooth

Moral of the Story in this Case:

Our Patience

Will Achieve More Than

Our Force!

-Edmund Burke
